  Targets for elephants:  
 
  • To make the elephant the formal symbol of the nation.Ô
  • To establish the National Elephant Institute as the main entity responsible for domestic elephants within the first quarter of the year 2002.
  • To enact standards and a registration system for elephants, mahouts and businesses involving elephants and elephant welfare.
  •  
      Targets for elephant personnel:  
     
  • To assemble a team to research the best way to conserve Thai elephants, including the preservation of traditional knowledge and the Thai life style, and build a human development program for more than 40 communities, 360 people and 20,000 students over one year.
  • To set up support for community businesses, including funds and a training center to promote the starting of medium-size businesses in 40 target communities.
  •  
      Targets for tourism and products:  
     
  • "The Year of the Elephant", a program for national tourism.
  • "Elephant tourism" should be standardized by law.

  • A complete process for producing goods in the target communities, to be standardized under the brand name "Elephant".

  • The long-range target - to make Thailand a world class destination.
