  Types of Elephant  
 
 
 

"Chang Pang" is a female elephant without tusks. there are females with a bit of tusks called "Khanai."
"Chang Plai" is a male elephant with tusks.
"Chang Si Daw or Chang Norakarn" is a male elephant. Its tusks are like Khanai's (female elephant with tusks) Normally, Chang Si Daw will be bigger and stronger than Chang Plai.
"Chang Si Daw Mued" is a male elephant with no tusks at all.


 
     
 

"Chang Toak" is a leader of a herd elephant.
"Chang Tong Dang" is a white elephant.
"Chang Plai Mae" is a female elephant with a bigger size than usual. It also has long Khanai nearly to be considered as a tusk.
"Chang Mae Pa Laek or Chang Mae Nuak" is a female elephant with high experience being respected as a leader of a herd.
"Chang Bum Roo Ngaa" is a couple of elephants acting like ready to fight.
"Chang Chana Ngaa" is an elephant trained to be good at fighting or once joined to the war.
"Chag Puek" is a special elephant or elephant with a strange color or Chang Neim which joins the Royal ceremony.
"Chang Niem or Chang Ma Nee Jark Raj" There are 3 books mentioning this type of elephant. Each book has differences.
1. It said that it is a black skin elephant with black toe.
2. It said that it is an elephant with a black skin, tusk appearance as the inflorescence of the banana and black toe.
3. It said that it is a Chang Si Daw.
